SUMMARY:Digital Designers: Onshape Fundamentals (Q3)
DESCRIPTION:This instructional Digital Designers cohort introduces the fundamentals of Onshape, an online, cloud-based CAD tool designed for parametric modeling and team collaboration on designs. Participants learn core concepts and workflows through guided instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on practice.\nOnshape’s browser-based platform makes it especially well-suited for teams that need to collaborate, iterate, and manage design changes together in real time. In our makerspace, FIRST Tech Challenge team members often use Onshape to collaboratively design their competition robot, making this tool particularly relevant for students and teams working on shared projects.\nEach session builds on the previous one, helping participants develop confidence creating parts and assemblies that can be fabricated using tools such as 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutters.\nWhat you’ll learn:\n\nNavigating the Onshape interface and cloud-based workspace\nSketching and constraining geometry\nCreating parametric 3D parts and assemblies\nUnderstanding design intent and feature history\nCollaborating with others, version control, and managing design changes\nPreparing models for fabrication and prototyping\n\nThis cohort follows a structured learning path, with pacing adjusted as needed based on participant experience and goals.\nRecommended for:Members interested in collaborative CAD workflows, including students, teams, and makers—especially those involved in competitive robotics or group design projects.\nSigning-up helps us plan.\n
