2023 Spring / Summer Internships
Build your technical, customer service and leadership skills while delivering a project to community partners, designing products to raise funds or demoing projects to build community support. CNCs, 3D Printers, Vinyl Cutter and other resources available. We continue to build our social enterprise foundation to raise funds for students interested in technology, engineering and entrepreneurship!
We are looking to fill internship positions to help us with the following. Some of these will start in March as noted below.
- Create an Escape Room: Includes working with an Escape Room Advisor from 21 Keys Escape Rooms, designing the theme and getting the puzzles and room ready for a first opening at the end of the school year. We intend to start our planning in early March with the goal of an “Opening Day” before school is out. The overall open hours will depend on the team’s availability. We intend to run the Escape Room throughout the summer.
- CNC Implementation: Assist with installing and getting a new CNC up-n-running with mentors.
- Product Development: Identify and design products with equipment, tools and supplies with mentors. Equipment available to implement your product designs are 3D printers and the new CNC.
- Service Development: We are in the planning stage of our summer camps and intend to open registration up by March 1st. Last year we offered workshops / camps in the following: LEGO Robotics, Introduction to Web Development w/ Python, 3D Design & Printing, DIY Drones, and Soldering / Electronics. Currently thinking of hosting workshops the week of July 3rd and camps / workshops the two weeks of July 31st – August 4th and August 7th-11th. If you are willing to lead a camp, please contact us soon so we can get it in our schedule. Our marketing will start March 1st.
Our activities and what types of companies we will be engaging will vary based on our products, services and events, in addition to the interests of interns who are onboard each semester. We will be visiting with different industry companies depending on our stage of development which will provide you an opportunity to see different roles in the process. We can’t wait to continue building a foundation for student innovation and engaging student interests in the technology and engineering industries! More about our journey as a social enterprise is available in our blog.
We know summer schedules can be hectic. Some may have jobs that are helping them with funds while others have family vacation obligations. We have proposed a 2-X-2 schedule for our summer internships in the past. The work schedule will include a 2-week focused time of 3-4 hours a day as a team at the beginning and end of the internship while we have a flex period in-between where team members are working remotely. We do request students to be in-town and attend our booth for the July 4th Street Fair in downtown Monument. A key to this schedule will be the first work week where we work together to define our projects and business expectations, in addition to visiting with businesses for ideas and advice in the second week. NOTE: This time schedule may change for some interns who are rolling out our Escape Room.
Everyone’s journey is different, but it’s yours…so take ownership and see where your interests truly are. Come ask questions and get ready for the summer.
