Competitive Robotics
Members Only
Competition teams hosted at Monumental Impact are considered “Sports of the Mind”, a game of skill based on intellectual ability. Come challenge your mind and have fun within our community!
Fun in our community means a competitive spirit to build your skills and do your best! Yes, many of us geek out in tech, but for each competition team we also provide an environment for sharing your knowledge across any age. High school student gaining knowledge from college students, adults and seniors. Even seniors learning techniques from high schoolers!
Any individual with a membership can start any competition team of interest. Talk to us about how to get one going!
What Competitions?
Offering competition teams at Monumental Impact started as three FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams. Currently the following competitions are underway by community members of Monumental Impact.
FIRST Tech Challenge
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics program organized by FIRST and local events are coordinated by Colorado FIRST. Teams recruit team members in the Spring, have their Game Reveal in September and are a full-year commitment. Our teams are comprised of high school students and FIRST restricts teams to 15 team members.
Combat Robotics
Plastic ant weight and beetle weight bots compete in events posted on RobotCombatEvents. Local collaborations on are through the Colorado Combat Robotics Club. This team is open to any member in our community, regardless of age. A bot that competes is designed and built by 1-2 individuals.
๐ฏ Funding The Fun
In addition to technical skills, teams take ownership of their finances and become entrepreneurs to “fund their fun”! Team members share and build their knowledge through developing and delivery products, services or events under our social enterprise. They look for entrepreneurial projects to raise funds for team resources and to reduce costs for team members. These projects also leveraged to inspire, mentor and recruit others to participate.
We sometimes referee to our competitive robotics teams and cohorts as, The MITEE Network. Within The MITEE Network we believe in fostering an environment where innovation thrives, challenges are embraced, career interests are explored and every team memberโs contribution is valued.
