Laser Cutter (Intro)

This introductory equipment training covers the fundamentals of using our laser cutter safely and effectively. Participants will learn what the laser cutter can do, what materials are appropriate to use, and the basic workflow for preparing and running a job.

Topics include:

• What a laser cutter is and the types of projects it’s best suited for
• Approved materials and material limitations
• Safety rules and best practices
• Basic file setup and job workflow
• Starting, monitoring, and finishing a laser job
• Cleanup and care expectations for shared equipment

Completion of this training is required for members before using the laser cutter independently during makerspace access hours.

No prior laser experience is required—this session is designed for beginners and those new to the equipment.
