CNC (Intro)
This introductory equipment training covers the fundamentals of using our CNC machine safely and effectively. Participants will learn what the CNC machine is capable of, what types of materials and projects it is best suited for, and the basic workflow for preparing and running a CNC job.
Topics include:
- What a CNC machine is and common use cases
- Approved materials and material limitations
- Safety requirements and best practices
- Basic job setup, fixturing, and workholding concepts
- Overview of tooling and tool changes
- Running, monitoring, and stopping a CNC job
- Cleanup and care expectations for shared equipment
Completion of this training is required for members before using the CNC machine independently during makerspace access hours.
No prior CNC experience is required. This session is designed for beginners and those new to CNC machining.
