Digital Designers

Members Only

Designing the Digital Foundations for Making

Digital Designers is a members-only learning pathway focused on building both 2D and 3D digital design skills that support real-world making, fabrication, and creative work. These cohorts help participants learn how to create, modify, and prepare digital designs used with tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and digital production workflows.

Rather than treating design as an abstract skill, Digital Designers cohorts connect digital work directly to physical and creative outcomes. Participants learn how design decisions affect fabrication, fit, function, aesthetics, and iteration—skills that carry across tools, projects, and careers.

Digital Designers cohorts may be instructional or mentoring-based, depending on the topic and goals of the group. Some cohorts follow structured lessons to build foundational skills, while others provide guided support shaped by participant questions and real project needs.

What Digital Designers Focuses On

  • Creating and editing 2D designs (graphics, layouts, vector files, and digital assets)
  • Creating and modifying 3D models for fabrication and prototyping
  • Preparing files for tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and other digital tools
  • Understanding how design choices affect real-world results
  • Mentoring support and peer learning in a collaborative environment

These cohorts welcome a range of experience levels—from beginners learning their first design tool to members ready to move into more advanced software and parametric design.

Designed to Support Making and Creativity

Digital Designers is ideal for members who:

  • Want to design parts, products, props, signage, graphics, or creative assets
  • Are supporting projects in Community Projects, Entrepreneurship, Competitive Robotics, or events
  • Prefer learning design skills in context, not isolation
  • Want to build confidence moving from idea → digital design → making or sharing

Below, you’ll find current and upcoming Digital Designers cohorts, each focused on a specific tool, technique, or approach.
