Open Robotics Competition (ORC)
Build. Score. Learn. Belong.
Step into the world of the Open Robotics Competition (ORC) with Monumental Impact—a hands-on robotics opportunity where creativity, teamwork, and engineering come together.
ORC is a great fit for newcomers and experienced builders alike. Participants design, build, test, and improve their robots for a fast-paced game challenge that rewards smart strategy, problem-solving, and iteration. Unlike combat robotics, the goal is not to destroy your opponent—so there is a very good chance your robot will still be in one piece after the match. That alone is a fine selling point for the budget. ORC Season 1 “Liftoff” features 2-minute matches on an 8-foot by 8-foot field, with teams scoring balls in goals, collecting points in their exclusion zone, and parking in a safe zone at the end of the match.
This opportunity emphasizes hands-on experimentation, testing, and continuous improvement. Builders learn by doing, work through real engineering tradeoffs, and grow their skills alongside mentors and fellow participants.
Whether you are curious about robotics, looking for a new challenge, or ready to build toward organized competition, ORC offers a welcoming on-ramp into competitive robotics. Join us, share your interests, and let’s see what you can build.
