Monumental Impact is seeking community and business leaders who believe in our mission and want to help strengthen the organization for the future.
Serving on our Board of Directors is an opportunity to provide strategic guidance, expand community and professional connections, and help build the partnerships and resources that allow Monumental Impact to grow its impact.
We are especially interested in people who are willing to open doors, make connections, and help others discover what is happening within our community.

What Board Members Do
Board Members provide governance and strategic stewardship while helping ensure Monumental Impact remains mission-focused and sustainable.
Board Members help:
- Provide strategic guidance and organizational oversight
- Support the long-term sustainability and growth of Monumental Impact
- Expand our network of community, business, education, and industry relationships
- Identify and help develop fundraising, sponsorship, grant, and partnership opportunities
- Make introductions and open doors within their professional and community networks
- Serve as ambassadors for Monumental Impact and its mission
- Provide experience and perspective that strengthens organizational decision-making
- Participate actively in Board meetings and organizational initiatives
Board Members aren’t expected to run Monumental Impact’s day-to-day operations. Their role is to help govern, guide, connect, and strengthen the organization.

Relationships are one of the most valuable resources a Board Member can bring.
Your network can make an impact.
You don’t need to know every answer or personally manage every opportunity. Sometimes the most valuable contribution a Board Member can make is connecting Monumental Impact with the right person, business, organization, or resource.
As Monumental Impact grows, we want to strengthen connections with:
- Local businesses and employers
- Technology and engineering professionals
- Entrepreneurs and business leaders
- Educational institutions
- Community organizations
- Foundations and grantmakers
- Sponsors and donors
- Government and economic-development partners
- Individuals who can provide expertise, mentorship, equipment, resources, or opportunities
Sometimes making an impact is as simple as saying, “I know someone you should meet.”
Our operational teams can take it from there.
Strengthen Fundraising & Sponsorship Opportunities
Board Members play an important role in helping Monumental Impact develop the relationships and resources necessary to sustain our makerspace and programs.
That may include:
- Introducing Monumental Impact to prospective sponsors and donors
- Helping identify businesses and organizations whose interests align with our mission
- Connecting us with potential grant and foundation opportunities
- Participating in fundraising and sponsorship campaigns
- Helping communicate Monumental Impact’s impact within your network
- Strengthening relationships with existing supporters and partners
Board Members don’t have to personally manage sponsorship campaigns or fundraising systems. Instead, they help create opportunities and connections that our leadership and functional teams can develop.
Help Guide a Community Built Around Learning & Doing
Monumental Impact is a nonprofit community makerspace based in Palmer Lake in the Tri-Lakes area, north of Colorado Springs.
Our community brings together high school students, college students, adults, seniors, volunteers, mentors, professionals, and community partners through hands-on opportunities involving:
- Technology and engineering
- Entrepreneurship
- Career readiness
- Makerspace equipment and fabrication
- Competitive robotics
- Internships and mentorship
- Member and community projects
- Events and community engagement
Board Members help us keep the larger picture in view as these activities and opportunities continue to grow.
Who We’re Looking For
There isn’t one professional background required to serve on the Monumental Impact Board.
We value Board Members who bring different perspectives, experiences, relationships, and areas of expertise.
Experience that may be especially helpful includes:
- Business and entrepreneurship
- Technology and engineering
- Finance and accounting
- Fundraising and philanthropy
- Marketing and communications
- Legal, governance, or nonprofit leadership
- Education and workforce development
- Economic and community development
- Human resources and organizational development
- Real estate, facilities, or operations
More important than having a particular title is a willingness to participate, make connections, contribute your experience, and help Monumental Impact move forward.
Board Commitment
Board Members serve two-year terms beginning in July.
We are looking for individuals who are prepared to:
- Participate consistently in Board meetings
- Review materials and come prepared to contribute
- Provide thoughtful guidance and perspective
- Help develop relationships and opportunities
- Support fundraising, sponsorship, and organizational sustainability
- Serve as an ambassador for Monumental Impact
- Participate in organizational activities when their experience or connections can add value
We’ll discuss expectations, meeting cadence, current priorities, and Board responsibilities with prospective Board Members before asking anyone to make a commitment.

Other Ways to Make Monumental Impact
Board service isn’t the only way to become involved.
Volunteer
Contribute your time and talents, mentor community members, lead a project, or help guide one of our functional teams.
Intern
High school and college students can build skills and gain real-world experience while contributing meaningful work.
Sponsor or Partner
Businesses, organizations, and individuals can invest in our mission through sponsorships, partnerships, financial contributions, expertise, equipment, and other resources.
