Made @ Monumental Impact

Learn by Creating Something Real

Made @ Monumental Impact is where learning, making, and real-world experience come together.

Through Monumental Impact programs, community members, interns, volunteers, and team participants can contribute to the development and delivery of real products, services, projects, and events while building practical technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, business, and career-readiness skills.

Made @ Monumental Impact isn’t simply about making something to sell. It’s about learning by doing—taking ideas through the real challenges of designing, prototyping, testing, producing, marketing, delivering, and evaluating them.

What Does “Made @ Monumental Impact” Mean?

Made @ Monumental Impact is the designation for products, services, projects, and events owned and delivered by Monumental Impact through our programs.

Participants may contribute their skills and ideas through internships, project teams, cohorts, volunteer opportunities, events, and other Monumental Impact activities.

Depending on the project, participants might gain experience with:

  • Research and concept development
  • Design and engineering
  • Prototyping and testing
  • Makerspace equipment and production techniques
  • Materials and production planning
  • Batch optimization
  • Costing and pricing
  • Quality control
  • Packaging and presentation
  • Marketing and customer communication
  • Event planning and delivery
  • Fulfillment and delivery
  • Customer and market feedback
  • Business analysis and continuous improvement

The specific experience will vary from project to project.

From Idea to Delivery

Made @ Monumental Impact provides opportunities to experience more of the complete product, service, or event lifecycle:

Explore → Design → Prototype → Test → Produce → Go to Market → Deliver → Evaluate

A project doesn’t need to follow every step, and participants may join at different stages.

Someone might help prototype a new product, improve a production process, design packaging, create marketing materials, plan an event, collect customer feedback, or evaluate what should change for the next iteration.

Together, those contributions create a real-world learning environment.

Products, Services, Projects & Events

Made @ Monumental Impact can take many forms.

  • Products may include items designed, prototyped, produced, packaged, and offered through Monumental Impact.
  • Services provide opportunities to apply technical, creative, business, or makerspace capabilities to real needs while allowing teams of different disciplines to collaborate on challenges requested by a customer.
  • Events provide experience in planning, marketing, logistics, operations, customer experience, and evaluating results.

Revenue from Made @ Monumental Impact activities is received by Monumental Impact and supports our makerspace, equipment, programs, events, and nonprofit mission.

Part of Our Entrepreneurship Program

Made @ Monumental Impact is an important part of the Learn & Create track of our Entrepreneurship Program, providing structured opportunities to develop skills through real Monumental Impact activities.

The experience can also extend into Showcase & Test, where products, services, projects, and events are brought into real-world environments to gather feedback, understand customers, improve presentation and delivery, and learn what works.

Made @ Monumental Impact vs. Your Own Business

Made @ Monumental Impact is different from developing something you independently own.

When a product, service, project, or event is Made @ Monumental Impact, it is owned and delivered by Monumental Impact.

Members can also use Monumental Impact’s equipment, training, mentorship, cohorts, and community resources to develop their own products, services, portfolios, and independent businesses through the Create & Grow track.

Those remain independently owned and operated by the member.
