Competitive Robotics and Made @ Monumental Impact at All Pikes Peak Makes

Join Monumental Impact at All Pikes Peak Makes, hosted by Pikes Peak Library District, for a day celebrating creativity, technology, science, engineering, and hands-on making throughout the Pikes Peak region.

This year, Monumental Impact will help lead the event’s competitive robotics activities by hosting a Combat Robotics Competition and Open Robotics Competition (ORC) matches. We will also showcase creations Made @ Monumental Impact by students and other members of our makerspace community.

Combat Robotics Competition

Watch custom-built robots enter the arena and compete head-to-head!

Combat Robotics challenges participants to design, build, test, and improve robots that can withstand the demands of live competition. Competitors apply engineering, electronics, fabrication, programming, problem-solving, and plenty of persistence as they prepare their robots for battle.

Visitors will have an opportunity to:

• Watch combat robots compete in a protected arena
• See different robot designs and strategies in action
• Meet builders and learn how their robots were developed
• Discover how to become involved in Combat Robotics through Monumental Impact

Open Robotics Competition

Monumental Impact will also host Open Robotics Competition—or ORC—matches.

ORC provides an approachable pathway into competitive robotics, allowing participants to develop robots while learning mechanical design, electronics, programming, teamwork, and competition strategy. The program is designed to help new builders get started while still offering opportunities for teams to improve and advance their designs.

Visitors can watch robots take on competition challenges, meet participating teams, and learn more about upcoming ORC orientations, workshops, competitions, and starter kits being developed to help beginners enter the program.

Made @ Monumental Impact

In addition to competitive robotics, Monumental Impact will feature creations Made @ Monumental Impact by students and other members of our makerspace community.

The collection may include artwork, fabricated products, prototypes, robotics projects, tabletop creations, and other items developed using the tools, equipment, skills, and mentorship available through our nonprofit makerspace. Some items may be available for purchase, with proceeds helping support Monumental Impact’s programs, equipment, and future hands-on learning opportunities.

Made @ Monumental Impact gives participants opportunities to explore the full process of bringing an idea to life—from initial design and prototyping through production, presentation, customer feedback, and potential pathways to market.
